(Köln, 26 November 2018) WDL-Aviation acquires four Embraer E190 aircraft. The jets will replace WDL-Aviation’s current fleet of BAE146 jets as of February 2019.
The Embraer fleet is characterised by a modern design. The twin-engine jets offer space for about 100 passengers. The aircraft enable an improved customer experience. At the same time, the operating costs associated with WDL-Aviation’s long-standing ACMI and charter business can be reduced.
WDL-Aviation, a member of the Zeitfracht Group, has been based at Cologne/Bonn Airport for almost 50 years. WDL is one of Europe’s leading providers of aircraft leasing for commercial and private purposes. The company also offers partial services such as aircraft rental, crew, maintenance and various complete solutions.
Walter Böhnke, Managing Director of WDL Aviation, said on Monday: “We are pleased to have acquired four new Embraer 190 jets to replace our fleet of BAE146 aircraft. We are convinced that we have found aircraft that offer our customers a better flight experience.” Wolfram Simon-Schröter, Managing Director of the Zeitfracht Group, added: “The acquisition fits perfectly with the company’s growth strategy, which is based on a pronounced customer orientation.
WDL-Aviation was founded in 1974 and is based at Cologne/Bonn Airport. The founder, Theodor Wüllenkemper, took over the operation of working and training flights in 1955 – immediately after Lufthansa and before LTU. Today, the company is a leading provider of aircraft leasing, commercial and private charter flights. WDL-Aviation was recently taken over by the Zeitfracht Group and is a member of the Federal Association of German Airlines (BDF) and the Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (Barig).
