WDL has found Embraer E190 aircraft for its fleet renewal. According to the WDL parent company Zeitfracht, the used machines come from the USA. They are to be flown in next year.
It is planned that the first twin-engine aircraft will join the WDL fleet in February – the fourth and for the time last one is scheduled to arrive in Cologne in October. The original plan was to renew the existing BAE146 fleet with five E190s, which the company would like to buy.
Cost reductions expected
The WDL fleet, which is on average almost 30 years old, will not only be renewed with the 100-seaters. At the same time, the operating costs in connection with WDL’s long-standing ACMI and charter business could be reduced, explains WDL Managing Director Walter Böhnke.
Cologne-based WDL has been part of the Zeitfracht logistics group since last year. Founded in the 1970s, the airline offers aircraft leasing for commercial and private purposes.
The company also rents out individual aircraft or crews and offers maintenance services.
